Ultra High Modulus Carbon Fiber Microphone Boom Pole
TipTop camera pole supplies professional and super lightweight microphone boom poles made from ultra high modulus carbon fiber, designed for maximum stiffness, minimum weight, and excellent handling stability. The carbon fiber construction reduces flex and vibration during operation, helping sound engineers capture clean, stable audio in film, broadcast, interview, and field recording environments.
Our ultra high modulus carbon fiber boom pole offers a strong strength-to-weight ratio, making it suitable for long shooting sessions where comfort and control are critical. The rigid carbon fiber tube structure improves reach while minimizing hand fatigue, and the smooth surface finish gives it a clean, professional appearance.
Made from rigid, ultra-lightweight and strong Toray ultra high modulus carbon fiber roll-wrapped technology. We make it a point of honor to produce boompoles with thin-walled tubes to keep them as light as possible. This manufacturing choice allows us to offer the lightest boom poles on the market in terms of weight/ length ratio, and maximum strength.
The 6-section design allows TipTop boom poles to be longer when extended, while remaining extremely compact when folded. Furthermore, this design offers the advantage of reduced bulk while facilitating storage and transport.
The removable head screw with 3/8"-16 male thread and rubber base are included with each boom and is common to all models. Having one on each of its suspensions allows you to quickly and easily switch from using one microphone to another by changing the suspension with a quarter turn.
It reduces pole flex, so the microphone position stays more stable when fully extended. This helps improve handling accuracy for film, broadcast, interviews, documentaries, and field recording.
The lightweight carbon fiber structure reduces arm fatigue, especially during overhead operation or long takes.
Its high rigidity helps minimize unwanted movement and vibration, giving the boom operator better control and smoother audio capture.
Compared with standard aluminum or regular carbon fiber poles, ultra high modulus carbon fiber offers a better stiffness-to-weight ratio, making it suitable for professional sound recording work.
Between each smooth finish carbon tube section, assembled precision-machined anodized aluminum twist locks easily lock and unlock with minimal twist movements, and provide minimal clearance, allowing the sections to slide smoothly and in parallel. This contributes to the rigidity of the system while preventing the tubes from moving inside each other during rapid movements and rotations.
Carbon fiber material is also corrosion-resistant, durable, and suitable for indoor and outdoor production environments.
Narrative work, commercial sets, and broadcast productions often require a boom operator to hold a consistent position for extended takes, sometimes with the pole fully extended over a wide frame. For that kind of work, the materials and build quality need to hold up to repeated use throughout the day.
The TipTop HMMIC-4006 is built for exactly this. Made from Ultra High Modulus Toray carbon fibre using roll-wrapped technology, it extends to 3.9m and weighs 580g. All components, including the carbon tubes and twist locks, can be repaired or replaced, ensuring a long working life across years of production use.
For the largest sets and longest takes, the TipTop HMMIC-5006 extends to 4.9m and weighs 700g, with the same Ultra High Modulus Toray carbon fibre build, with all components repairable or replaceable, built for broadcast and long-form production work. If you want to understand how boom poles fit into a full professional audio setup, the Boom Pole Basics guide covers the fundamentals in depth.
